What is Prosthodontics?

Prosthodontics is a specialized field of dentistry where dentists develop treatments that enhance a patient's smile and restore oral function using dentures, crowns, bridges, and dental implants.

A prosthodontist must attend an additional three years of training after dental school. Prosthodontics is recognized as one of the nine dental specialties by the American Dental Association (ADA).

Board-Certified Prosthodontists

Prosthodontists have the option of applying for a board certification after completing their residency. Candidates must complete a written examination and a series of oral examinations.

It can take up to 7 years to become board certified. After becoming certified, the prosthodontist is recognized as a diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics. All diplomates must undergo continuing professional education and are subject to recertification every eight years.

The Board seeks to certify individuals who are committed to ethical practices, continuous learning, and the advancement of prosthodontics.

Benefits of Seeing a Board-Certified Prosthodontist

All board-certified prosthodontists are examined by peers based on knowledge and clinical skills in prosthodontics. They are committed to the pursuit of continued proficiency and value the doctor-patient relationship.

Here at Hillsdale Smiles PLLC, we're dedicated to providing you personalized and gentle care so that you can enjoy healthy teeth and a beautiful smile.
